VENUE GUIDE · CO. DUBLIN

Trinity College Dublin

A ceremony at Trinity College Dublin, with the chapel, Front Square and the people gathered around the couple. Carole and Stephen’s photographs show this part of their Dublin wedding before their reception at The Shelbourne. This is a ceremony-focused guide: the hotel is a separate venue.

Arriving at Trinity.

Trinity College Dublin is on College Green in Dublin 2. Carole and Stephen’s arrival photographs put the ceremony in its city setting, with the wedding car, the Campanile and the chapel entrance around them.

Plan the arrival around the entrance and access arrangements agreed for your ceremony. A realistic transport allowance and a clear meeting point for guests can help the day begin calmly.

Inside the chapel.

The chapel photographs move between the wider interior and closer views of Carole and Stephen. Stained glass and rows of guests give the room its atmosphere; the ring exchange and the kiss bring the focus back to the couple.

The chapel has its own application and Christian-wedding requirements. Trinity also advertises civil ceremonies in separate campus spaces. Confirm the exact room, eligibility and booking arrangements with the relevant Trinity team before planning your coverage.

A little time in the interior.

Doorways, darker wood and softer light give the portraits a different feel from the wide ceremony photograph. A few moments together can fit naturally between the ceremony and leaving to meet the guests.

Photography access and any restrictions should be agreed with Trinity and the person conducting the ceremony. We would choose suitable locations within that agreement and avoid assuming that other campus rooms are available.

Out into Front Square.

The walk back through the chapel and the congratulations outside complete this selection. The photographs keep Carole and Stephen’s guests close around them before the next part of the wedding begins.

Their reception was at The Shelbourne, away from Trinity. If your day also uses a separate reception venue, leave a practical travel margin and decide in advance where any family groups and portraits will take place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Trinity College Dublin?

The main College Green entrance is in Dublin 2. Agree the arrival entrance and access arrangements with the Trinity team responsible for your ceremony.

Who can apply for a chapel wedding?

The Chaplaincy lists qualifying staff, degree students and graduates among those who may apply, with a connection required for at least one partner. The chapel hosts Christian weddings. Check the current application requirements directly with the Chaplaincy.

Are civil ceremonies available at Trinity?

Trinity’s official wedding information lists the Public Theatre and Regent House for civil ceremonies. It describes the Public Theatre as available to students, staff and alumni, and Regent House as open to bookings from members of the public. These are different spaces from the chapel shown here.

How far ahead should we contact the chapel?

The Chaplaincy currently says that normally six months is required for a chapel marriage. Contact it early to confirm the application process, your eligibility and availability; this is not a booking guarantee.

Can we take photographs elsewhere on campus?

Confirm the permitted spaces, timings and any requirements with Trinity before the day. Booking a ceremony does not mean every interior or campus location is available for photographs.

Was Carole and Stephen’s reception at Trinity?

No. Their reception was at The Shelbourne. This guide uses their Trinity ceremony photographs and keeps the hotel preparations and reception separate.
